  16.     Sunnyvale, Calif. — October 30, 1989 — SuperMac™ Technology today introduce
  17. the Graphics Accelerator™, an enhancement module for SuperMac's ColorCard/24™
  18. display card that allows it to manipulate 24-bit color images up to 20 times
  19. faster than standard QuickDraw™.  Priced at $499, the Graphics Accelerator
  20. plugs directly onto the ColorCard 24, so it uses no additional NuBus® slots.
  21. Unlike competing products, the Graphics Accelerator's speed is not limited by
  22. NuBus data transfer rates. It will be available in November.

  25. within the budgets of all Mac II owners," said Michael McConnell, president of
  26. SuperMac. "For under $500, you can have all the responsiveness you need for
  27. demanding graphics projects like color photo retouching and color desktop

  29. ColorCard/24 can choose to upgrade at any time without having to buy a whole

  32. The Graphics Accelerator improves the speed of all 32-bit QuickDraw operations,
  33. not just a few, so all operations and drawing commands—including scrolling,
  34. fills, moves, windows, ovals, lines, and rectangles—are accelerated. The actual
  35. performance increase depends on the specific QuickDraw operation being
  36. executed.

  38. ColorCard/24 delivers a true color display for less than $1,000 on any
  39. Macintosh® II system. It supports the 13" AppleColor RGB Monitor at a
  40. resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
