- SUPERMAC INTRODUCES GRAPHICS ACCELERATOR FOR COLORCARD/24
-
- Combination Delivers High Performance True Color At An Affordable Price
-
- Sunnyvale, Calif. — October 30, 1989 — SuperMac™ Technology today introduce
- the Graphics Accelerator™, an enhancement module for SuperMac's ColorCard/24™
- display card that allows it to manipulate 24-bit color images up to 20 times
- faster than standard QuickDraw™. Priced at $499, the Graphics Accelerator
- plugs directly onto the ColorCard 24, so it uses no additional NuBus® slots.
- Unlike competing products, the Graphics Accelerator's speed is not limited by
- NuBus data transfer rates. It will be available in November.
-
- "The Graphics Accelerator brings high performance true color display technology
- within the budgets of all Mac II owners," said Michael McConnell, president of
- SuperMac. "For under $500, you can have all the responsiveness you need for
- demanding graphics projects like color photo retouching and color desktop
- publishing. And, since it's an enhancement module, current owners of the
- ColorCard/24 can choose to upgrade at any time without having to buy a whole
- new card."
-
- The Graphics Accelerator improves the speed of all 32-bit QuickDraw operations,
- not just a few, so all operations and drawing commands—including scrolling,
- fills, moves, windows, ovals, lines, and rectangles—are accelerated. The actual
- performance increase depends on the specific QuickDraw operation being
- executed.
-
- ColorCard/24 delivers a true color display for less than $1,000 on any
- Macintosh® II system. It supports the 13" AppleColor RGB Monitor at a
- resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
-
- SuperMac Technology develops and manufactures graphics subsystems which include
- color, grayscale, and monochrome monitors and graphics cards, as well as
- software and application support products. SuperMac is a pioneer in the
- Macintosh enhancement market and continues to offer value-added graphics
- products to extend the capability of Macintosh computers into new vertical
- markets and in the traditional business market.
